Text-Centered Discussions: Reading, Thinking, Talking, and Writing about Texts

Looking for practical strategies to implement the Common Core Literacy Standards? This two-day session applies the proven strategy of literature circles to any small group text-centered discussion, including Socratic Seminar. Middle and high school teachers of any content will learn how to select texts, set up, manage, and assess small group and larger inner/outer circle discussions, and challenge students to write while infusing technology at each stage of the process. Participants will leave the session armed with practical strategies and resources to engage students in quality text-centered discussions.
